I’ve know Delorean and her family for quite a few years. They’re some of the kindest, most giving people I’ve met. So when I met Chase for the first time, I could tell right away that he has a big heart like them. Not to mention his silliness that always keeps the mood light and Delorean laughing. They compliment each other so well and it makes my heart so happy to see the amount of joy he’s brought into my friend’s life!
We shot their engagement session on a very hot October evening, with the most perfect golden light peeking through the trees on Delorean’s parent’s property. Many years ago, Delorean adopted a pup, Ashley, from the Mahoning County Dog Pound. Of course she had to be in the pictures!! While she spent most of the time exploring and rolling around in the grass, she really turned the charm on when I needed her to! I mean, just look at those ears!
Aside from Ashley making us laugh, Chase had his fair share of funny and just ridiculous moments that had us smiling the whole session! I mean, he sang a Taylor Swift song for us (#yassss)! With every ridiculous moment, I could see it making Delorean more and more comfortable, which I think is a total testament to their relationship. Being in front of the camera can be totally awkward - I can definitely attest to that! But one of the things I love about my couples is that they totally let their guard down and have fun - which is all I could ever ask for because all of those natural moments showcase who they are, and that’s my number one goal! And I got that right out of the gate with these two!
Since bowling is what essentially connected Chase and Delorean from the get to, and they started dating when they went to Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, they just had to rock the YSU shirts for part of their session! Many of those defining moments in their relationship happened at a bowing alley, from their first kiss and officially starting to date all the way to the proposal. It’s kind of become a tradition at this point! So when Chase was preparing to propose, he asked her parent’s for permission first off. Then, he made a special playlist for when they were getting ready to leave the bowling alley, he got down on one knee and she, very much caught off guard, said yes!
Now they’re planning their traditional summer wedding in June of next year! The wedding will be modern with touches of navy, coral, slate grey and metallic silver and rose gold. Delorean has been working hard on making a lot of special signs for the reception venue and can’t wait to see it all come together. But most importantly, they’re both so excited to finally be married and start the next chapter in their lives :]
