Before I got pregnant, I could not wait to have a baby and enjoy the experience of planning his newborn session. While I was pregnant, I did booked my session with Christie Leigh Photo way before Atlas was born. I clearly knew she was going to be my photographer because, while she is one of my closest friends and we’ve been shooting together literally since college, newborn photography is her specialty and, believe me when I say that she is damn good at what she does!

My session was booked, she was with me when I delivered Atlas and knew all of the complications he was having, so I was appreciative for her checking in on me and reminding me we needed to schedule his session. I became the worst client when it came to getting his shoot on her calendar because I was hit with postpartum depression on top of my postpartum preeclampsia and all of the other problems we faced the week prior. I honestly didn’t want to do the session. I was struggling to get through each day as it was. Adding all of the preparation of pulling myself together to leave the house on top of giving Atlas his first bath, keeping him awake before his session, gathering all of our shoot supplies, packing his diaper bag and getting him in the car seemed impossible for me. I, in no way, thought I could do it nor have the energy to do it. Christie gently nudged me enough that I mustered up every bit of strength I could to get his session done. I knew I wanted those photos, but the PPD was telling me that I didn’t care if we did the session or not. I’m very grateful for my dear friend because I would’ve been missing out on the most amazing memories of my little man because of depression. I can’t tell you how much I cherish these photos. I cried waaaay too much browsing through these photos. They are so incredible that I want them all on giant canvases throughout my house.

I have to add just how phenomenal Christie was during the shoot, too. She is totally a super mom. I was worried about Atlas being cranky because we were in the thick of his belly/gas issues and most days, he wasn’t very happy. But she made him so relaxed and comfortable and he totally nailed his first studio photoshoot! So thank you, Christie, for all of these precious photos and for just being amazing! <3
