Lyndsie + Nick | Museum Engagement Session | Butler Institute of American Art | Youngstown, Ohio

Lyndsie and Nick walked into their engagement session like they were walking the red carpet. Talk about a WOW outfit combo! I love a good all black moment, but Lyndsie’s decision to pair Nick’s monochrome attire with a sequin emerald green cocktail dress was just perfection. This chick had the audacity to look this good at her sesh, and I am here for it!!! I love when couples aren’t afraid to just go for it, because it always pays off in the photos. As an added bonus, emerald green is one of her wedding colors and I love that she tied that in to her engagement session.

But enough about their impeccable styling choices - I want to talk about these two! I met them almost a year ago at a family session, though I feel like I’ve known them for much longer than that. They’re just down to earth and so easy to have a conversation with. Their entire engagement session was just that way. We walked around the Butler and admired some cool and beautiful and weird art in between taking photos. It was an ideal session for me, for sure. They made it so easy!

When I first met Lyndsie and Nick last year, I knew a proposal was on the horizon. Most times, I don’t meet my clients until after they’re engaged, so it was cool to meet them beforehand. I was riding the wave of anticipation right there with Lyndsie and definitely think I squealed when she texted me the good news along with a picture of the ring, which Nick had custom made (great job, homie).

Naturally, I had to hear the proposal story and couldn’t help but laugh when Lyndsie told me. Apparently Nick had planned to propose during their trip to Hocking Hills, but he just couldn’t wait. He ended up proposing two weeks before their trip and just winged it. They had dinner and a movie planned but Nick decided they were just going to go home after dinner, and was acting strangely the entire evening. After pulling in the driveway, he ran straight into the house without waiting for Lyndsie, which made her understandably annoyed at this point. Before she could even yell at him (as she was obvs preparing to do), she walked into the house and Nick was down on one knee. She definitely didn’t think a proposal was coming that night. SURPRISE! Best end to a strange date night ;]

Now they’re planning a simple yet classy fall wedding at the Doubletree by Hilton in downtown Youngstown, Ohio and I can’t wait to see everything come together!
